Welcome to Euro Soccer Schools Oregon.  My name is Peter Deam and I am proud to be the Head Coach of a new soccer program starting in the Willamette Valley area this year.  I was born and bred in Salisbury, England and was educated in Leicestershire before attending University.  After graduating from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 2004, I worked as a House Tutor at Sherborne International School for three years in Dorset, UK, coaching soccer from the ages of 11.  It was from this experience that I decided to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and taught at a mainstream public school (1650 students on roll) from 2008, specializing in Drama & Theatre Studies.  During these years, I continued my love of coaching by supporting the Physical Education department as a volunteer, managing the U15 soccer team for two consecutive years.  I was able to attend an AC Milan Academy Training Camp in 2012 with our team, beating AC Milan Academy opposition; in the same year, we reached the Area Cup Final.  As a teacher, I also ran school Expeditions for three years to Morocco and Norway, was an Army Commissioned Officer for school cadets and directed the school play, Oliver! in 2011 with a cast of 200!
After relocating to Florida with my wife (a US Citizen) in 2012, I joined the coaching network of Euro Soccer Schools in Florida.  I acted as Head Coach for elementary schools in the Hunters Creek area of Orlando, before relocating further to Oregon, following my wife’s appointment to Oregon State University.
I believe participation in soccer can play an important part in child development for young people.  Our sessions aim to engage children from all ages, focusing on fine motor skill development, agility, balance, coordination, spatial awareness, physical conditioning but most of all, having lots and lots of fun!  We value experiential learning as well as promoting life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and respect.
I thank you for taking the time to read our story and hope you have a better understanding as to who I am and what we are trying to achieve.  I shall look forward to welcoming you to our sessions.
